This is my first Civilization game, but I have played many turn-based/real-time strategy games. This game brings revolutionary concepts creating an addictive interface. The Graphics in this game are incredible for a strategy game. The water is very realistic, of course it is from a overhead view, but it still looks very nice. Sure the battle animations, aren’t amazing, but what can you expect form a turn-based strategy? I wouldn’t buy this game only for its graphics, because it has so much to offer. The side-movies are a nice addition, and show the amazing graphics this game has to offer. I would have to say this game has the one of if not the best graphics engines for a TBS, making graphics a huge plus in this game. If you are a diplomatic type, make the goal of the game, global peace, if you are a war monger you can set the mode for total conquest and conquer every single nation in the game.

The Audio is something you shouldn’t buy a game over, but it isn’t exceptional like the rest of the game. There isn’t much to say, they don’t play singing music, but more of a instrumental only, which tends to get stuck in your head. Tactical combat is one of the biggest changes that Civilization 5 provides. The combat overall works completely different, and there is only one unit allowed per square, or hex. The combat is much more visual and realistic this time around too. A unit doesn’t always die at the end, and cities are forced to defend themselves. Some gamers are disappointed with the one unit pet tile change because they feel that only having one defender makes the combats less tactical, but others claim that it creates less clutter and a more defensive attack mode.
